Technical Support: Battery / adapter

99.9% of ALL reported problems are caused by a FLAT BATTERY!!!!

We can sort almost all problems out over the phone; try following the Q & A below and if you are having no luck then give us a call.

LOCATION OF BATTERY ADAPTER

Q: (1700 / 1701 / 1702) Where do I put my battery adapter on a monitor using a 2.4GHz receiver expansion box?
A: On the monitor to the left of the receiver, NOT on the rear of the receiver expansion box itself.

POWER

Q: Why doesn't my battery work.
A: The battery is more than likely flat.
A: The batttery may have tripped and needs a quick reset in the charger.
SUGGESTION: Always recharge a battery when it has been completely drained.

Q: (OZP31xx) My battery is definitely working but it is not powering an LCD monitor properly.
A: Check the output of the battery adapter when using a fully charged battery is 12V.
NOTE: You can only do this by using a multimeter. Set it to DC and simply connect the probes, positive to the red wire, negative to the black.

Q: Why do my batteries not last long anymore or keep tripping? Why do I have to keep recharging them?
A: Your batteries need replacing.
NOTE: All rechargeable batteries have a limited life. They are basically made of chemicals which can be affected by many different conditions. For example, if they have been used constantly, or conversly been sitting unused for a long time, or been in very hot or cold environments they will simply not last long.
Batteries that need replacing have a reduced capacity and a tendancy to trip when the product they are powering is turned on.

Q: (OZP31xx) I use my piece of equipment on a fully charged battery for a short while and it works fine. Then I come back a week later and try to use it but the battery has gone flat. Why is this?
A: You must remove the battery from the adapter whenever you are not using it. This is because the battery will discharge slowly on the adapter because of the DC-DC convertor inside it.

Q: I have measured the output of a brand new 7.2V Li-ion battery and it measures 8.4V. Is this normal?
A: Yes. As soon as a load is applied ie it is connected to an adapter, it will reduce to 7.2V. This is healthy!

Q: (7" LCD's) Why do the "Battery Low" light stay on even when I use a brand new, fully charged battery?
A: Ensure the power selector switch on the rear is in the correct position.

CHARGING

Q: Can I charge my batteries with a Teletest charger whilst the equipment it is connected to is being powered from a mains PSU?
A: No. You must use the correct battery chaarger.

FIXING BATTERY IN THE ADAPTER

Q: (7.2V Li-ion) Why won't my battery stay in the adapter plate?
A: The small plastic lugs may have broken on the adapter plate (look for white plastic tear marks on the inside edge).
NOTE: This very often happens when cameramen give their LCD monitors to directors or when hire companies rent out their LCDs to cameramen who are not very gentle with the products.
Teletest can replace the plastic case without having to replace the circuitry that converts 7.2V - 12V.
